Route description
The Lithuania–Latvia–Estonia off-road route leads through three Baltic countries with a similar character. It includes lowlands, vast forests, lakes, and long straight roads with very little traffic. It is a მშვიდful and uncrowded region, well suited for touring-style off-road travel.
The route is approximately 2,705 km long and was planned for 14 days. It is divided into daily stages, each requiring around six hours of driving. This setup allows for a relaxed pace and provides time for sightseeing, rest, and meals.
The route is easy and suitable for stock off-road vehicles and SUVs. It mainly follows simple gravel, dirt, and local asphalt roads, away from major traffic routes. It does not include technically difficult sections.
The route includes numerous attractions across all three countries.
In Lithuania, it passes through Kaunas, Vilnius, Trakai Castle, Užutrakis Manor, the Curonian Spit, Nemunas Delta Regional Park, Druskininkai, Klaipėda, the Rumšiškės Open-Air Museum, and Visaginas.
In Latvia, it includes Riga, Daugavpils Fortress, beaches near Jūrmala, Sigulda, Gauja National Park, Turaida Castle, and the ruins in Krimulda.
In Estonia, the route runs along the coastline, crosses one of the islands, passes through Lahemaa National Park, Tartu, and Tallinn, and includes a crossing of the longest ford in Europe, over five kilometers long.
Accommodation is planned around self-sufficient travel, mainly using legal wild camping spots and campsites. Each stage starts and ends at selected locations of this type, often situated by lakes, rivers, or coastal beaches. Hotels and guesthouses can also be used and arranged individually.
