Route description
This is a proposal for a longer trip to the Suwałki Region in Podlaskie Voivodeship. It includes a package of five routes designed for five days of driving and can be a ready-made idea for a holiday or vacation.
The base is the Silaine resort located by the lake, offering accommodation in rooms, at a campsite or tent site. There is a beach with a pier, water equipment, a sauna, and the possibility of horse riding or a horse-drawn carriage ride. In the summer season, there is a beach bar, and the canteen serves meals based on regional Lithuanian recipes.
The total length of the routes is 677 km, and each of them takes about six hours to complete. All of them start at the Silaine resort, and four of them are loop routes.
The routes run through the most interesting areas of the Suwałki Region. They include the Suwałki Landscape Park and the bridges in Stańczyki, the Sudawskie Hills, the Augustów Canal and the Augustów Forest, the Romincka Forest, as well as sections running through Lithuania. One of the routes goes through an area with a flooded isthmus between lakes. The last route ends on the outskirts of Suwałki after passing through Wigry National Park.
In dry weather, the routes are easy and suitable for stock off-road vehicles and SUVs. They allow you to get to know and visit many tourist attractions. They are also very scenic in winter (the Suwałki Region is known as the Polish cold pole), when they can become a challenge even for experienced and well-prepared crews.
